Limpot settles with Ginebra
Jun Limpot ends up with Barangay Ginebra after all but Marlou Aquino's fate remains up in the air.
Meanwhile, Fil-Am deadshot Noy Castillo found a new team in Purefoods as the Ayala franchise acquired him from Formula Shell by trading a future draft pick.
Purefoods has released draft pick Dino Aldeguer who's now trying his luck at Tanduay.
Limpot was to show up in the Ginebra practice at the Green Meadows gym yesterday afternoon and will have a meeting with the team management today to close the deal making him a new member of the Ginebra ballclub.
Aquino, meanwhile, stayed unattached as Red Bull's negotiation with Sta. Lucia Realty for a possible trade didn't progress with the PBA's newest member ballclub declaring Kerby Raymundo "untouchable."
Red Bull officials offered any of their players except Raymundo for Aquino. Their Sta. Lucia counterparts, however, countered it's either Raymundo or they keep Aquino.
Thus, the deal is back to scratch with Aquino still without a team with barely a month to go before the opening of the 26th PBA season.
Aquino, who has made himself scarce this off-season, has reportedly said he prefers to play for Red Bull than Sta. Lucia, and threatens to entertain offers from MBA if he's not released to the Energizers.
Limpot is negotiating with Ginebra officials anew following Mobiline's announcement that it's abandoning its plan to get his services in exchange for Asi Taulava Wednesday. The former main man of Sta. Lucia has a standing offer of P30 million in five years from the La Tondeña franchise. -
