DepEd senior high voucher program opens for 2018-2019

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced the opening of the nationwide application for the Senior High School Voucher Program (SHSVP) for schoolyear 2018-2019.

The financial assistance amounts to P11,250 to P22,500 per voucher depending on the location of the school that could allow a beneficiary either to get free or discounted tuition.  

DepEd said the applications opened on Dec. 4.

Grade 10 students enrolled in private schools and were not beneficiaries of the Educational Service Contracting scheme are eligible to apply for the program.

Application forms may be accomplished manually until Jan. 31 or online through the Online Voucher Application Portal (OVAP) at http://ovap.deped.gov.ph until Feb. 28.

Those who will take the Alternative Learning System Accreditation and Equivalency and the Philippine Educational Placement tests this year are also eligible for the program, provided they are certified for admission to Grade 11 in the next schoolyear and received their certification not later than May 31, 2018.

 Applicants can submit their application until June 15, 2018.

The DepEd said those who completed Grade 10 in public high schools, state and local universities and colleges and all private school are automatically qualified for vouchers and need not apply.

However, high school graduates in March 2015 or earlier, Grade 10 completers before this schoolyear,  incoming Grade 12 students and those who are not Filipino citizens are not eligible to apply.
