PUJ passengers get the ride of their life

- The Ear -

ROAD RAGE. The passengers of a jeepney got a taste of road rage when their driver lost his cool and decided to go after a truck that hit his vehicle.   The Ear source said he was on a 12D jeepney running along N. Bacalso Ave. when it hit the rear of a truck that was pulling out of the lane from his right side. The collision ripped off the PUJ’s right side-mirror. Since both vehicles were in the middle of a busy highway and with traffic already heavy, waiting for settlement by CITOM was out of the question and the truck drove off. The PUJ driver cursed, left his PUJ and picked up the sidemirror. He went back to driving still cursing. But just as the light turned green at the Leon Kilat intersection he turned the vehicle right, bent on pursuing the truck, seemingly forgetting he still had passengers in the back.

STAY OUT OF IT. It was when he pulled out a heavy stick and ripped off his signboard that passengers started to get concerned. Some began to get off whenever he stopped for traffic. Only a few were left when he pursued the truck from Leon Kilat St. to Colon St. all the while cursing and thwacking the stick at the side of the PUJ. Fewer still were left when he caught up with the truck whose driver did his best to ignore him. Finally the source spied his stop and got off. The PUJ driver was still cursing, still holding the stick and still had the crazed look in his eyes. He seemed bent on following the truck to wherever it parked. “Di ko ganahan ma-witness sa gubot, lisod na,” the source later said.
