MANILA, Philippines — Two double-parking motorists have had their driver’s licenses suspended for delaying fire response.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) found the Makati drivers liable for obstruction of traffic and declared them improper persons to operate motor vehicles.

In the Barangay Bangkal incident, the driver had his license suspended for three months, while the other in Guadalupe Nuevo had his suspended for a year.

The vehicle owners were recorded on video blocking firetrucks responding to a residential blaze in Makati.

“Motorists should yield to emergency vehicles, especially responding firetrucks. Every second counts, as lives may hang in the balance during these responses,” LTO chief Markus Lacanilao said.
