5 Manila pumping stations replaced

MANILA, Philippines — Five pumping stations along Roxas Boulevard in Manila have been fully replaced, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said the facilities have been connected to the electric distribution grid of the Manila Electric Co., with their diesel generators turned into backup power supply.
Connecting the Abad, Remedios, Padre Faura, Harbor View and Luneta facilities to Meralco guarantees an uninterrupted discharge of storm water into Manila Bay.
Completing the Roxas Boulevard pumping station corridor serves as the blueprint for ongoing national pumping infrastructure upgrades, Dizon emphasized.
Meanwhile, the DPWH and Makati city government have agreed to demolish the collapsed perimeter wall of Forbes Park along EDSA, citing public safety hazards.
Government archives yielded no historic blueprints or building permits for the wall, Dizon said.
