NPA finance officer nabbed in Bohol

MANILA, Philippines — An alleged finance officer of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested in Talibon, Bohol on Wednesday, according to the the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said the suspect, identified only as Carmilo, was collared in Barangay Poblacion based on a warrant for violation of Republic Act 10168, or the Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act.
The warrant was issued by the Bohol Regional Trial Court Branch 101 a day before the suspect was arrested.
Torre said Carmilo was the fourth most wanted fugitive in Central Visayas for being the rebel group’s financial officer.
The suspect was reportedly the chairman of a rights group based in Bohol.
Torre said the suspect was providing financial support to communist rebels operating in the province.
He said Carmilo’s arrest was a major blow to the NPA’s operations in Central Visayas.
