MANILA, Philippines — More mayors have signified support for the “no registration, no travel” policy of the Land Transportation Authority, which seeks to register all motor vehicles across the country, LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II said yesterday.
This developed after Mayor Pablo Lorenzo of Quezon, Bukidnon paid Mendoza a courtesy visit last week to inform the LTO chief about ongoing efforts in his municipality involving persuading owners of unlisted vehicles to register.
Mendoza said three mayors in Oriental Mindoro – Aristeo Baldos, German Rodegerio and Nemmen Perez of Pinamalayan, Gloria and Socorro towns, respectively – are coordinating with the local LTO office in going after vehicles with expired registration in their jurisdictions.
“They have been supporting and strengthening the call for the renewal of the registration of delinquent motor vehicles,” Mendoza said, citing reports he recently received from the LTO Pinamalayan district office.
Mendoza recognized the support of the local chief executives, saying this will boost road safety and adherence to the regulations of motor vehicle ownership.
He directed all LTO regional directors and district office heads to continue collaborating with local government units and other stakeholders until all 24 million delinquent motor vehicles nationwide are registered.
