DICT gets USAID help on cybersecurity

Rainier Allan Ronda - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is providing technical expertise assistance to boost the capacity of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on cybersecurity.

Through its Better Access and Connectivity or BEACON project, USAID has partnered with the DICT to conduct cybersecurity proficiency training for government IT professionals.

The USAID has collaborated with the DICT for the conduct of online Cybersecurity Proficiency Improvement Training (CPIT) seminars.

The CPIT webinars will be conducted monthly covering practical topics from the different domains of cybersecurity, which aim to enhance the knowledge and skills of IT and cybersecurity professionals in the bureaucracy.

The USAID is also helping the DICT pursue its efforts to build a resilient national broadband network as well as tap satellite technologies as it seeks to make the Internet accessible throughout the Philippines.
