Michael Punongbayan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Army (PA) announced yesterday the designation of Brig. Gen. Marion Sison as commander of the 3rd Infantry Division (ID) in Western Visayas.

Army chief Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. led the change of command ceremony as Lt. Gen. Benedict Arevalo, now chief of the Visayas Command (VisCom), relinquished his post to Sison.

Army spokesman Col. Xerxes Trinidad said Sison has been heading the 3ID in an acting capacity since Arevalo’s official designation as VisCom chief took effect on Jan. 13.

Sison has held key command and staff posts throughout his career such as commander of the 301st Infantry Brigade, assistant chief for personnel and intelligence of the PA and commander of the Joint Task Force Sulu as well as of the 79th Infantry Battalion of the 3ID.
