MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show cause order against a motorist who allegedly killed a three-year-old boy in a hit-and-run accident in Parañaque.

The LTO summoned Rodolfo Cudiamat, 68.

Reports said Cudiamat was driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) when it hit two children who were walking along 4th Estate in Barangay San Antonio on Sept. 20.

The boy was killed while his companion suffered injuries.

The LTO also summoned Raymond Zaparin, the SUV driver who reportedly ran over Doreen Bacus, 63, a street sweeper, in Barangay BF Homes, Parañaque on Saturday.

Bacus remains in critical condition at the Philippine General Hospital.

Cpl. Arnold Baraquel of the Parañaque police said Zaparin could file for bail petition, adding that cases of reckless imprudence are bailable.

City administrator Voltaire de la Cruz said the local government gave financial aid to Bacus following the accident.

He said Mayor Eric Olivarez vowed to shoulder the hospital expenses of Bacus.

Cudiamat and Zaparan were ordered to appear at the LTO to explain why their motor vehicle registration and driver’s licenses should not be suspended or revoked.
