Fire hits DBP office in Makati

MANILA, Philippines — A fire broke out at the 14-story Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP)’s central office in Makati shortly after midnight yesterday, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.

Arson probers said the fire started on the eighth floor of the DBP building along Makati Avenue at around 12:11 a.m. and reached the second alarm at 12:32 a.m.

The fire was put out at around 2 a.m. with the help of the BFP, fire volunteers and the DBP’s safety officers.

“There were no reported casualties or injuries. We are coordinating with authorities to determine the cause of the fire,” the DBP said in a statement.

The BFP said the fire did not spread to other floors of the building.

The DBP assured the public that measures have been adopted to safeguard the bank’s documents and records.

“Our frontline services, including our financial center remain operational to serve the banking needs of our valued clients,” the DBP said.
