PNP official faces frustrated murder raps

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines — Frustrated murder charges have been filed against a police official for allegedly attacking a non-commissioned officer who was left blind in one eye.

M/Sgt. Ricky Brabante of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 5 filed the case against Col. Dulnoan Dinamling Jr., regional commander of the Aviation Security Group.

Initial investigation showed Dinamling hit Brabante with a broken bottle during the birthday party of a police official at Camp Simeon Ola two weeks ago.

The incident occurred after Brabante told a group of junior policemen to take shelter because it was raining, unaware that Dinamling, who was reportedly drunk, was talking to them.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos announced during his visit to the regional police headquarters on Sunday that Dinamling has been placed under restrictive custody.

Gen. Jonnel Estomo, Bicol police director, recommended the dismissal and filing of administrative complaints against Dinamling.

“The PNP Bicol, based on the programs and directives of the present administration, is strictly enforcing the law and the molding of discipline in each member,” Estomo said.
