Chinese doctor charged for illegal clinic

BACLARAN, Philippines — A Chinese doctor was charged on Monday for allegedly running an illegal health facility in Barangay Baclaran, Parañaque City catering solely to her compatriots.
Following last Sunday’s raid on Yumei Liang’s clinic and pharmacy, police found more than P30 million worth of unregistered medicines purportedly for illnesses ranging from sexually transmitted diseases to coronavirus disease 2019.
The city government said Yumei was charged with violating the city’s revenue code and violating Republic Act 3720 or the Food, Drugs and Cosmetics Act and RA 11469, the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.
The Food and Drug Administration is also set to file charges against Yumei over the unregistered medicines.
Yumei faces a complaint for practicing medicine without a license and falsification of public documents for altering her driver’s license.
She also faces deportation for violating immigration laws, Mayor Edwin Olivarez said.
