Pasig enrolls 13,000 scholars

MANILA, Philippines — The city of Pasig gave scholarships to 13,000 students, the highest in history, Mayor Vico Sotto said yesterday.

The scholarships were given under the rebranded Pasig City Scholarship Program, formerly known as “BCE Scholarship Program,” from the initials of the city’s former mayor, Bobby C. Eusebio. 

In a video posted on his official Facebook page, Sotto said the city council passed the new scholarship program last Sept. 19. 

The expanded scholarship program did away with the “point system” of the earlier program, which was based on the attendance of the beneficiaries to city government events.
