More areas under storm alert as 'Urduja' heads for Northen, Eastern Samar area

MANILA, Philippines — Residents of several areas in Luzon and Visayas are on high alert as Tropical Storm Urduja approaches. It continues to move westward towards Northern-Eastern Samar.
As of 7 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration said "Urduja" was 125 kilometers east northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.
PAGASA said "Urduja" has maximum winds up to 80 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 95 kph.
"Urduja," moving west at 10 kph, is expected to make landfall over Northern Samar-Eastern Samar area on Saturday morning or afternoon.

Areas under public storm warning signal no. 2 are alerted against possible occurrence of 4.1 to 14.0 meters coastal flooding.
PAGASA said possible inclusion of Mindoro provinces, Batangas, Cuyo islands and Calamian group of islands in areas under tropical cyclone warning Signal No. 1 within three hours.
"Scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains will continue over Bicol Region and Visayas and is expected to prevail over Southern Quezon, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Mindoro Provinces, Marinduque and Romblon," PAGASA said.
"Residents of these areas must undertake appropriate measures against flooding and landslides and coordinate with their local disaster risk reduction and management offices," it added.
PAGASA advised the public to remain alert as sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of areas under tropical cyclone warning signal.
