3 crime ring members nabbed in Caloocan raid

MANILA, Philippines - Police operatives arrested three suspected members of a crime syndicate during a raid in their alleged lair in Caloocan City, before dawn Wednesday.

Director Benjamin Magalong, chief of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and  Detection Group, said Kharil Angri, Ernesto Glena and Leonardo were nabbed during the serving of search warrants at Barangay 188, Tala, Camarin, Bagong Silangan at around 5 a.m.

Magalong said the three men are alleged members of the Tala group, engaged in auto theft, robbery, drug trafficking, gun-for-hire and kidnap-for-ransom jobs in Metro Manila.

Aside from the three suspect, two underaged suspects were also taken into custody by the Women and Children Protection Unit of the CIDG after they were seen lurking within the vicinity of the place of operation.

Authorities also seized P1.3 million in different denominations placed under several sachets of shabu considered to be drug money, 10 motorcycles while two of which are reportedly stolen, an M16 rifle, two caliber .45, assorted ammunition, and five units of  two-way communication radio.

Magalong said the suspects are now in police custody while facing charges for violations of Republic Act10591 (Comprehensive law on Firearms and Ammunition and Republic Act 9156 (Dangerous Drug Act).
