Dino Balabo - The Philippine Star

MALOLOS CITY, Philippines – Two motorcycle-riding men hurled stones and bottles into the house of a retired journalist in Bocaue, Bulacan yesterday morning.

The attack on the house of Frederick Agcaoili in Barangay Sulucan, occurred at about 4 a.m., according to his wife Maria Eloisa.

Agcaoili was a former editor of The STAR and had worked with other media entities like the People’s Tonight, Manila Times, Manila Bulletin and Malaya. He retired two months ago from Malaya.

He had also worked with the Presidential News Desk during the government of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Maria Eloisa said the attack surprised them as her husband was not inthe house. She said they saw two men on a motorcycle leaving the place in haste.

She said before the attack, she saw two men passing by their house several times.

They reported the matter to the Bocaue police, but the officer on duty reportedly declined to handle the case saying they were busy.

Meanwhile, unidentified armed men strafed the house of a newly elected barangay chairman in Magalang, Pampanga on Monday.

Arnold Zaragoza of Barangay San Isidro was asleep when the incident occurred at 3:30 a.m., according to Senior Superintendent Oscar Albayalde, chief of the Pampanga police.

Police said before the attack, Zaragosa had received threats through text messages.– With Ric Sapnu
