MANILA, Philippines — Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo defied the odds as their highlight performance of "Defying Gravity" in the 2024 film adaptation of the beloved musical "Wicked" beat other popular hits, "APT" and "Golden."

The popular witches on the screen won the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance against other heavy favorites: Bruno Mars and Blackpink's Rose for "APT," the smash hit "Golden" from the phenomenal animated movie "KPop Demon Hunters," Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "30 For 30," and global girl group's LSS-inducing "Gabriela."

The duo's win comes after Cynthia brought home her first Grammy in 2017 for Best Musical Theater Album in her Broadway revival "The Color Purple."

Ariana, meanwhile, won Best Pop Vocal Album in 2019 for "Sweetener" and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance in 2021 for "Rain on Me" with Lady Gaga.

Their win comes weeks after their sequel movie, "Wicked: For Good," was snubbed at the 2026 Oscars slated this March.
