Rains, thunderstorms expected this week

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said no tropical cyclone is expected to form or enter the Philippine area of responsibility within the next three days.

The combined effects of a shear line, easterlies and the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy to rainy weather across much of the country, with strong winds and rough seas in several areas.

PAGASA yesterday said Caraga and the Davao region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the easterlies, which may trigger flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.

Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora and Quezon are forecast to have cloudy skies with light rains from the northeast monsoon.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are predicted over the Visayas, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, and the rest of Mindanao due to the easterlies, with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains caused by the northeast monsoon.
