Through Proclamation No. 719, President Rodrigo Duterte declared Monday a special non-working holiday throughout the country to enable Filipinos “to properly exercise their right to vote.”

“Now, therefore, I, Rodrigo Duterte, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare 13 May 2019 a special non-working holiday throughout the country for the National and Local elections,” the proclamation read.

The proclamation was also signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
