'Do not glorify the NPAs', public told

MANILA, Philippines - The Armed Forces of the Philippines urged the public on Saturday to refrain from glorifying the New People's Army (NPA) as the rebels continue to commit crimes and violence against the Filipino people.

"Let us not glorify the NPA and its anniversary for this marks 45 years of sowing fear against the Filipino people and 45 years of crimes against public order," said Major Gen. Domingo Tutaan Jr., AFP spokesperson.

The NPA is celebrating its 45th founding anniversary today.

"Let us therefore have a collective call for the NPA armed group to end the armed struggle for us to have sustained peace and development throughout the nation," he said.
