Metro Manila sizzles at 35.3ºC
MANILA, Philippines - The temperature in Metro Manila rose to 35.3 degrees Celsius yesterday, the highest recorded in the metropolis so far this year.
Weather forecaster Gener Quitlong of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the warmest temperature was recorded at 3 p.m. yesterday.
Quitlong said the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, will continue to bring hot weather in the country in the coming days.
“We still expect (temperature) to rise because of the prevailing easterlies,†Quitlong told The STAR.
In Tuguegarao City, Cagayan the warmest day was recorded last Tuesday at 36.8 degrees Celsius.
In General Santos, the temperature hit 36 degrees Celsius, the hottest recorded in the province so far this year.
PAGASA officials earlier warned the public against heat-related diseases this summer.
It also advised the public to conserve water as water levels in major dams are expected to continue to recede during the summer.
