MANILA, Philippines - A gender sensitivity tool kit and collection of women’s stories were launched yesterday by the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

The launch of the “Gender Toolkit,” an instructional guide for field workers on gender and development in dealing with beneficiaries, local government units and other stakeholders; and “Bridging Gender Differences: Stories of Empowerment of Men and Women in Kalahi-CIDSS,” a collection of 10 stories from the two pilot gender sites, was held at the DSWD central office in Quezon City.

DSWD Secretary Corazon Soliman and Millennium Challenge Corporation executive director Matthew Bohn attended the ceremony.

Last year, Kalahi-CIDSS piloted the integration of gender and development in community organizing and facilitation in line with its gender mainstreaming initiative.

Kalahi-CIDSS is also gearing up for the nationalization of the community-driven development approach in poverty alleviation. Dubbed the National Community-Driven Development Program, the program features enhancements of Kalahi-CIDSS systems, including the integration of sectoral protection systems for gender, disaster risk reduction and management and indigenous peoples.
