Pag-IBIG members get shopping discount

MANILA, Philippines - Pag-IBIG Fund members can avail of five percent discount when they shop for holiday gifts at SM department stores tomorrow.

The Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund) offers the one-day exclusive discount as it marks its 31st year.          

“It’s our treat for all our 10 million members as we celebrate Pag-Ibig Members Day in all SM department stores nationwide,” Pag-IBIG Fund operations sector senior vice president Alex Aguilar said.

Pag-IBIG members who are not SM Advantage card holders can also avail of five percent discount, while members who are also holders of SM Advantage, SM Prestige, and BDO Rewards cards can enjoy higher discount of 10 percent in all SM department stores, except in the Quiapo branch.

Aguilar said the one-day exclusive discount may be availed of for a minimum purchase of P500. Members should present their Pag-IBIG transaction card, Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) or Social Security System ID.

The discount does not apply to items purchased at the Snack Exchange, Camera Shop and Customer Service Counter, as well as items like chemicals, toiletries, diapers, pharmacy, small appliances, business machines and other promo items.                                

Earlier, Pag-IBIG posted an all time high record for membership of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) at 1.8 million by yearend.        

Pag-IBIG Fund has been enhancing its membership information, registration and remittance systems to benefit the almost 3.6 million OFWs worldwide.

It is also encouraging Filipinos in predominantly immigrant markets such as the United States and Canada to sign up for membership.
