‘Born to Shine’ moms encourage their children to dream big
Roselle Nava shares her son wants to become a composer of musicals. She has enrolled him in piano classes and encourages him to listen to different types of music.

Every child’s dream begins at home. That’s why families, especially parents, play a crucial role in shaping their character to be determined, wise and gritty enough to chase those ambitions. In this Mother’s Day special, celebrity moms share how they teach their children to aim high and never give up on their dreams.

The wonderful message about dreaming big is the main story of GMA Network’s Afternoon Prime series, “Born to Shine.” Hence, we asked some of its cast members to reveal the most out-of-the-box dreams of their children and how they helped them take the first step toward it.

Manilyn Reynes says of parenting three children who are into arts and music: ‘We do all we can to help them reach their goals.’

According to Manilyn Reynes, who plays the role of Minchie in the series, her three children are inclined to arts and music just like her. “My children are all very artistic! They all sing, draw, write novels, and play musical instruments. Kyle has released his own comic book called Godhark. Kirk makes my vlog music and has two singles, A Love Song and Lay it All on Me, as well as an album called ‘Experiments.’ Kael is working on his novels and plays the guitar. He’s into space and astronomy, and he dreams of working for NASA someday!”

Manilyn reiterated, “When it comes to our children’s dreams, however simple or out-of-the-box they are, we are always behind them. We do all we can to help them reach their goals. We always give our all-out support and are always the first ones to applaud when they succeed!”

Meanwhile, Roselle Nava (as Monica) highlighted that her child is also a music lover, “My son told me that he wants to become a composer for musicals. He enjoys playing the piano, saying that it helps him cope with the stress and demands of daily life.”

Tina Paner supports her child’s dream of being part of the medical field by encouraging her to pursue a pre-med course and allowing her to join medical missions.

She added, “To support him, I enrolled him in piano classes, and I always try to sit down and listen to him play. I join him in watching musicals to expose him more to the art form and inspire him to become more creative. I also encourage him to read books and listen to different types of music to broaden his knowledge and help him explore and expand his musicality.”

Tina Paner (as Charice), on the other hand, mentioned that her child chooses a different path from hers. “I have supported my child’s dream of being part of the medical field, which is a different path from mine. I encouraged her to take her pre-med course because I knew it would give her a strong foundation in healthcare. I also allowed her to join medical missions and similar activities. So, she could see real patient care and develop her passion for helping others.”

Indeed, a child’s success is one of the best things a mother could witness in her lifetime, and every loving and dedicated mom will give her all for that sweet winning moment.
