Male celebrities salute the women in their lives

Charmie Joy Pagulong - The Philippine Star

March has been marked as Women’s Month in the Philippines and around the world to pay homage to women and their achievements in various fields.

Following the global celebration of the International Women’s Day last March 8, this paper asked several male celebrities and actors about the women they would love to honor this special month and why. Here are their responses:

Bayani Agbayani: “My wife and isama ko na ang mga anak ko kasi puro babae anak ko. Saludo ako sa lahat sa kanila talaga. Sila nag-aalaga sa akin. Para akong nasa five-star hotel ‘pag ako ay kumakain, ‘pag natutulog dahil sa mga anak ko. At saka ang tatalino at mababait pa.”

Albie Casiño: “All the women in my family. I have them tattooed in my arm. My mom and all of her sisters are named Anna. Yun lang talaga yung babaeng magmamahal sa akin kahit anong gawin ko eh. If there’s a woman I want to celebrate Women’s Month, it’s definitely my mom and her sisters.”

Billy Crawford: “I go for all the moms katulad ng asawa (Coleen Garcia) ko, sa lahat ng sakripisyo na ginawa ng lahat ng mga nanay sa buong mundo. Trust me… when you have your first child and you see your wife give birth, iba ang pakiramdam and respeto nabibigay mo sa kanila. That’s why I salute… my wife and all the mothers in the world. You have my respect.”

Ronnie Lazaro: “With my wife, I guess. It’s going to be a long story if I tell you how a wife plays in our lives. No one word to describe a wife. I’m happy I’m married.”

Diego Loyzaga: “Everybody’s well-aware of how much of a mama’s boy I am and I do not care how many people tell me that ‘He’s a mama’s boy’ because mothers should be celebrated. You have no idea how much moms go through. My mom has been through so much for me. She really has. She deserves to be celebrated. Aside from her, I have my stepmom, Ms. Shine (Sunshine Cruz), and my three sisters. I grew up with women all around me and the sacrifices that women go through, it should be celebrated. But numero uno would be my mom, definitely. I love my mom so much.”

Bruce Roeland: “Ang dami kasi, kung pwede lahat ng babae na lang na nakilala ko. Sobrang importante talaga ng Women’s Month. We celebrate the power of (women). If I were to choose one, si Althea (Ablan, my love team partner in GMA’s Prima Donnas) talaga yung nasa isip ko. Of course, I will choose my mom. She’s the one that taught me how to respect a woman, how to respect other people, how to respect yourself. Very close second si Althea.”

Mark Anthony Fernandez: “With my mother, daughter, dream girl or group of women who have done great deeds to others.”

Vince Crisostomo: “Mommy ko talaga. Ever since bata ako, siya talaga nagturo sa akin (like) how to respect other women, how to treat them right. I think siya talaga yung parang pinaka-ni-lo-look up to ko when it comes to women kasi talagang sa kanya ko natutunan yung mga bagay na yun (like) how to respect and love women.”

JC Santos: “I’ll be celebrating it with my wife and baby girl. Naging savior ko sila ngayong pandemic. I would want to celebrate it with them every day kung kaya.”
