Kevin Poblacion tests showbiz waters

MANILA, Philippines - Newbie Kevin Poblacion (photo) is out to fulfill his dream of becoming an actor. The 19-year-old young man is taking up an acting workshop at Star Magic (with Rhyan Carlos as his mentor) and is getting good feedback.

Kevin was born in Canada on Aug. 5, 1995. He is 5’8” tall and is a looker. It has been his childhood dream to be in showbiz but decided that it would be best to finish his course in Tourism before embarking on the said journey and find his luck in showbiz.

This is only the second time for Kevin to visit the hometown of his parents. The first time was when he spent a year in high school in Iloilo. That visit was meant to introduce him to the roots of his parents. His parents wanted Kevin to experience what was life like in Iloilo, which was quite different from the way of life he has in Canada.

He knows Ilonggo and is now taking up lessons in Tagalog, same time with his acting workshop at ABS-CBN.

Kevin flew to Manila last April with his parents. Upon learning it might be possible to give showbiz a try, he asked the permission of his parents to stay in Manila for the meantime. Armed with determination despite being alone in Manila, Kevin sought out his fortune in showbiz. He enrolled in the acting workshop at ABS-CBN under Rhyan  and was accepted in the workshop even if he was late enrollee. The workshop, which ends this month, proved to be an enjoyable experience for Kevin who found it to his liking.
