Taal Vista Hotel celebrates 74th year

Ver Paulino - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Taal Vista Hotel recently celebrated its 74th anniversary with a tree-lighting ceremony held last Nov. 23. The lighting ceremony also signified the start of the festive Christmas season at the hotel.

The hotel started operations on Oct. 7, 1939. On its anniversary celebration, Taal Vista Hotel invited its corporate members, friends, members of the media, with the cancer patients of Make-A-Wish Foundation and the children from the Chosen Children’s Village to witness their Christmas Tree Lighting event.  The party started at the hotel’s History Wall, located near the Sampaguita Ballroom. The wall features key events that took place since the establishment of the hotel.

The program opened with welcome remarks from Walid Wafik, Taal Vista’s area GM and followed by Elizabeth Sy, SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation president.

“We at SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation have endeavored to preserve the hotel’s heritage while staying in tune to the change of times. We value our rich history as we strive to meet global standards,” said Elizabeth during the ceremony.

Guests were serenaded by the angelic voices of the Hail Mary the Queen Children’s Choir via a selection of Christmas Carols. Also leading the lighting of the Christmas Tree, which is located at the hotel garden near the main entrance, was Felicidad Sy, member of the board of trustees of SM Foundation.
