The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN president and COO Charo Santos-Concio underscored the role of Filipino audiences in shaping the nation’s history at the ABS-CBN Philippine Independence Day flag-raising ceremony dubbed as Bayang Malaya, Tayo Na last June 12.

Concio said ABS-CBN’s commitment to continually bring premium content to its viewers is inspired by Filipinos’ impressive traits as a people and true stories of heroism, including stories of struggle, idealism and helping others in times of tragedy.

“We still have a long way to go. ABS-CBN will always be there to sympathize, cheer and keep an eye on you. We have a colorful and noble history because of all your extraordinary tales,” Concio said.

She also described working at ABS-CBN as a privilege because it entails having the opportunity to chronicle stories of Filipino heroism. She said, “It’s not exhausting to work for something that benefits the nation.”

The event, which was hosted by TV Patrol anchors Noli de Castro, Korina Sanchez and Ted Failon, marked ABS-CBN’s tradition of being the only TV network that holds an annual flag-raising ceremony in commemoration of the Philippine independence.
