Derek Ramsay is Star Cinema's newest Box-Office Actor

MANILA, Philippines - No doubt about it, Derek Ramsay is the newest Box-Office Actor of Star Cinema on the strength of the gross of latest movie, No Other Woman, which continues to draw crowds nationwide — nearly P300M so far, and counting.

Ever humble, Derek simply said when reminded about his new “status” — “No naman, suwerte lang siguro.”

Directed by Ruel Bayani, No Other Woman shows Derek at his acting and physical best. As a man torn between two women, Cristine Reyes as his wife and Anne Curtis as his mistress, Derek was consistent from beginning to end, proving to all and sundry that he matches his beautiful body with a beautiful brain and a beautiful heart. Put together, they make Derek an honest and sincere actor who has no qualms about shedding clothes and inhibitions in delicate scenes that are vital to the development of the story.

“I always knew from the very start that he would develop into a serious actor,” said Joji Dingcong, Derek’s manager.

Starting as a model, Derek must have been aware of the fact that very few guys coming from where he did could turn into real actors. He could be an exception to the rule.

“I should say that experience is the best teacher, as they say,” admitted Derek who comes from a family of means but chose to experience the nitty-gritty of life by running away and staying in a depressed area, a chapter in his life from which he certainly draws “substance” now that he’s an actor.

The good thing about Derek is that he keeps his feet firmly planted on the ground even now that he’s the reigning Box-Office Actor, with an award within sight.

When that comes (the award, he means), Derek’s new status should be validated.

“I’m keeping my fingers crossed,” he said.
