Mommy Jean brings out the best in Jennica

MANILA, Philippines - Jennica Garcia’s star is on the rise. The willowy beauty continues to attract attention with her talent, screen presence, positive attitude and charm. She credits her promising career to the one person who continues to help her shine — her mother Jean Garcia, herself an award-winning actress.

 As a child, Jennica drew inspiration from watching her mom at work. When Jennica got her break, it was Jean who first gave her important advice and tips on being a good performer and artist.

“Ang pinaka-importanteng natutunan ko sa kanya ay yung pagiging professional,” she said. “Na kahit pagod na, ‘pag sinabing ‘take,’ go! Nakikita ko rin kasi yun sa kanya, magaling siya mag-control ng emotions. So kahit pagod, effective pa rin ang acting ni Ma.”

Now a sought-after actress herself, Jennica considers it an honor to work alongside her mother and acting idol.

Jean and Jennica have worked together on many sets, including the memorable TV series Ina, Kasusuklaman Ba Kita? last year which they top-billed. Currently, they are seen together in the new TV commercial of Universal Robina Corporation’s (URC) Cream All, where they play their real-life roles as mother and daughter who love to put creamer in their tea, coffee, chocolate and other beverage preparations. It was another unforgettable experience for Jennica, as she sees every opportunity to work with her mom as a way to continuously improve her craft.

“The commercial was like adding another feather to my acting cap, because I worked with the Jean Garcia,” Jennica shared. “The whole experience was super fun. Sobrang close kami ni Ma, natural na sa amin yung mga ginagawa namin and it didn’t feel like work at all.”

Jennica’s praises for her mother go beyond citing capabilities, as she also admires Jean for taking good care of the family despite busy schedules.

“Even if she’s busy with work, she still spends time with us and cooks for us,” Jennica said. “Kahit ‘pag in love yan, may panahon pa rin siya for us. ‘Di nawawala yun and that is why she has my full support. Sabi ko sa kanya go, mag-boyfriend naman siya for her own happiness. Iba pa rin yung may boyfriend, yung feeling na in love na nakakaalis ng pagod.”

As Jennica puts it, Jean’s passion for fulfilling her roles on and off the camera inspires her to be the daughter that her mother raised her to be. While Jennica and her little brother make it an everyday effort to show their mama that she is the best, they make her feel extra special every Mother’s Day by giving her loving treats like a heartfelt handmade card, flowers and a fun dinner. And as Jennica continues to pursue her acting career, she will definitely take the right path with the guidance of her mentor and beloved mama Jean.
