Seven sons, seven sorrows
In 1968, Virgo produced a heavy drama titled Siete Dolores, the story of a mother portrayed by Rosa Mia, with seven sons…and seven sorrows. The English translation of the Spanish title, Siete Dolores, is seven sorrows.
The seven sons are played by Eddie Rodriguez, Luis Gonzales, Ric Rodrigo, Nestor de Villa, Vic Vargas, Rod Navarro and Eddie Garcia.
In 1947, a movie with the same title was shown, with Rosa Aguirre as the mother. Her seven sons are Leopoldo Salcedo, Bimbo Danao, Ben Perez, Gil de Leon, Fernando Royo, Don Danon and Ben Rubio.
Siete Dolores circa 1968 was directed by Luis Enriquez (the real name of Eddie Rodriguez) and written by his partner Louise de Mesa, known as Liza Moreno during her acting days.
Should Siete Dolores be remade today, who’d play the mother and the seven sons? — RKC
