PULP pays tribute to Hatebreed

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - After a string of successful PULP Unleashed events (featuring internationally-known death metal outfit Dying Fetus and Grammy Award-nominated group Shadows Fall) that showcased the power and might of heavy metal, get ready for another most-worthy salvo with PULP Unleashed presents: Hatebreed Live in Manila on Nov. 6 at World Trade Center in Pasay City. The event, the first large-scale gig of its kind, is sure to have hardcore fans rejoicing and eagerly anticipating the day they will be heard.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, PULP Magazine honors the international hardcore act — known for its hit singles Before Dishonor and I Will Be Heard among others — with the most-coveted spot as cover artists for this month. Read the exclusive feature written by ultimate-Hatebreed- fan/contributor Allan Dayco, who gives a personal account on how the band changed his life and musical taste upon first listen. Many of serious metal core fans can relate.

But that’s not all music fans can sink their teeth into this month, as PULP delivers more fan favorites than any other mag can. This month’s double-cover issue also highlights rock superstars Bamboo, 6Cyclemind, Kamikazee, Chicosci and Sandwich, all who have been busy all-year long playing almost every place in the archipelago. Staffwriter Karen Sy talks to the musicians and the people behind the tour to get updates on how life on the road has been for both musicians and music-lovers.

Editor-in-chief Joey Dizon recounts the experience of a lifetime with the exclusive coverage and interview with one of the most popular international modern rock groups, as he writes about the entire PULP Live Productions presents: Coheed and Cambria experience last July. Fans, pay attention. This is where you’ll see exclusive concert and meet-and-greet footage, and read exclusive local features on Coheed and Cambria key members, singer/songwriter Claudio Sanchez, guitarist Travis Steever and drummer extraordinaire Chris Pennie. This definitely makes the issue a collector’s item.

In the spirit of being groundbreaking, music editor Jason Caballa presents a story on modern rock phenomena Taken By Cars, who are gearing up for the release of their second full-length disc soon. As session guitar player for the band many numerous times now until the present, Caballa notes down the past, present and future of this young band and describes just how infectious the music and the moves are.

There are more features, album reviews and coverage of the hottest gigs and events in town in this month’s special double-cover edition. Be sure to stand up and be counted, and grab your copy now because they’re selling fast. PULP Magazine is available at all leading magazine shops and stalls nationwide for only P150.

Tickets to the PULP Unleashed presents: Hatebreed Live in Manila are still available at all SM Cinemas, TicketNet and TicketWorld outlets for P1,000 each.
