Anne is a winner

-
If you’ve faithfully tuned in to the primetime wars between the local networks, you’re likely aware of a new program about a female Quasimodo that’s currently minting primetime gold.

Thanks to Anne Curtis’ nuanced performance as the show’s title character, Kampanerang Kuba may just be the goldmine ABS-CBN needs to propel itself back on top. For Anne, the series may very well be the long delayed break she deserves. After all, when Viva absorbed her into its roster of talents, it had high hopes that she would evolve into a major star.

Since making her film debut when she was 10, Anne has become in demand for various TV and film roles. She has also lent her image to several TV commercials. She’s the pitchgirl for products such as Head & Shoulders and GSM Blue to name a few. As for movies, Star Cinema has cast her alongside Luis Manzano in its yet untitled forthcoming trilogy and then another one with Heart Evangelista that is in its pre-production stage. Anne has also graced the covers of Fave and other glossy magazines. In such a short period, she has hurdled over the hump of supporting status and made the leap to bankable star.

After Hiram, ABS-CBN was so impressed that the network saw it fit to give Anne a starring vehicle for her next project. The story of a hunched maiden who turns into stunning lady at the flicker of a candle, Kampanerang Kuba has Anne winning sympathy this time, not to mention the amorous affection of three leading men (Luis Manzano, Patrick Garcia and Christian Bautista). Besides, she sees the series as a chance to showcase her range even if it means having a deglamorize herself. Watching the show closely, Anne so loses herself in the role that it’s hard to see her iridescent qualities beneath the grotesque prosthetics. So far, her solid commitment to the role has reaped its due rewards.

Another show that’s keeping Anne all abuzz is her hosting gigs in Wannabuzz and Qpids with Luis Manzano. Early on, she was initially apprehensive about taking on these assignments due to her stronger proclivity to English. But now she’s become more relaxed in the vernacular as proven by the confidence she exudes in conducting interviews.

For all the success building up in her life, Anne is grateful to ABS-CBN and Viva Artists Agency, Inc. for their support. She acknowledges that without them, it’s unthinkable where her career could be headed by now.

Recently, Anne became a full-fledged adult (by her own definition). She has fulfilled one dream she vowed to do when she turned 18 – build her own house. Anne is only a few strokes away from moving into her Victorian-inspired domicile that is nearing completion. Now, she’s setting her sights on another goal that she hopes to accomplish soon – garnering her first acting trophy.

With the way her career is building up and with the type of roles coming her way, she’ll likely get this dream off her in no time.
