2 injured in Binondo house collapse

MANILA, Philippines — Two people were injured after a portion of a two-story house in Binondo, Manila collapsed on Thursday night, the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said.
The MDRRMO said a 13-year-old customer of a refreshment stand in front of the house and its 29-year-old owner were injured when the structure collapsed.
The two were taken to Jose Abad Santos General Hospital for treatment.
Barangay 272 Councilor Robin Cantos said the owners of the collapsed house were outside the structure when the incident occurred. Cantos said authorities are investigating whether construction work on an adjacent establishment caused the collapse.
Authorities restricted access to the street to ensure the safety of residents while the City Engineering Office conducts a thorough inspection.
