Sta Lucia opens il Centro mall in Cainta

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Over the years, Sta. Lucia Land has single-handedly transformed the landscape of the Greater East area, turning once sleepy towns into dynamic communities, and pioneering a booming mall business in the area.

While shopping malls were rising in the busy areas of Makati and Quezon City in the late 1980s, Sta. Lucia, in 1991, preferred to build a 19,000-square meter shopping complex to cater to the burgeoning communities of Pasig, Cainta, Marikina, and Antipolo. The first in the area, Sta. Lucia Mall soon became a major commercial, entertainment, and leisure hub with four levels of shops and restaurants, a department store, supermarket, food court, an indoor amusement center, and a bowling alley.

Today, Sta. Lucia Land (SLI) fortifies its presence in the eastern Metro Manila with il Centro, the newest expansion of the Sta. Lucia Mall, a two-story, 50,000 sqm development that includes a wide selection of specialty shops, dining outlets, hardware, appliance stores, a medical and dental center, and a fitness gym, all designed to cater to the upscale market within Rizal.

With il Centro, SLI takes a step forward, extending the reach of its retail developments to upscale brands and establishments, especially for the residents of Sta Lucia Residenze, the five-tower residential complex where il Centro is located.  The lifestyle mall features high ceilings and sunroofs giving the interior a more relaxed, airy and refreshing setting.

Paul Michael Robles, SLI vice president for sales, said il Centro also intends to uplift the image of the community.  “With 9,000 sqm of leasable space, il Centro showcases a unique mix of lifestyle, retail and service establishments that uplifts the image of a once staid and convenient shopping complex into a vibrant, trendy community,” Robles said. “The Sta. Lucia Mall complex has the highest foot traffic of all the commercial centers in the area, and we expect the numbers to increase now that we have brands to cater to the high end market. This makes il Centro the best bet for retailers who are looking to tap into the growing market of the East.”

Launched in September of 2014, il Centro features a wide array of shops and stores to suit the needs of every individual. il Centro is also strategically intertwined with Metro Manila’s transit networks and highways.  It is five to 10 minutes from Katipunan Ave. and Aurora Ave., a five-minute jeepney ride from LRT-2 Santolan Station and directly connected to Aurora Blvd. (which is the central road of Manila) via the Marcos Hi-Way.

The commercial center is also within reach of the Ortigas and Eastwood CBDs, schools and universities, churches and medical centers, offering a new hotspot for leisure and recreation for those in the area.
