Thai wine hits local market

MANILA, Philippines -  Thailand’s SPY wine coolers have entered the Philippine beverage market, targeting mainly women who are social drinkers. The Monheim Group, a local conglomerate brought in the new product after signing a distribution and marketing deal with Siam Winery of Thailand. “It is a light and delightful drink which has become popular in Thailand and in more than 20 countries since 1986, is expected to create a new segment in the local beverage market, said Vanessa Villariza, brand manager of The Monheim Group. Villariza expects SPY wine coolers to become successful in the Philippines given the expanding segment of the socially active female population in the age bracket of 20 to 29. “These independent, modern, trendy and stylish women love to socialize and hang out with friends,” she said. SPY wine coolers is an authentic wine-based sparkling drink that comes in three variants: The Classic variant is light and sweet with only five percent alcohol content. The Red variant has six percent alcohol while the more sophisticated White variant has seven percent .
