Chooks-to-Go supports Maroons UAAP drive

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The University of the Philippines gets a big shot in the arm as it primes up for UAAP Season 79, drawing Chooks-to-Go’s support in all its basketball sports program, including the Maroons’ campaign in the upcoming tournament.

“We will support the pre-season games and training as well as the entire campaign of the UP Fighting Maroons in the 79th UAAP season,” said Ronald Mascariñas, president and general manager of Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc. (BAVI), which operates the country’s largest roasted chicken retail business.

The support involves full merchandising, meal provisions, life-coaching, and personal development of the team and staff as Chooks-to-Go encourages the players to be shining examples of true sportsmanship, on and off the court.

Mascariñas and the UP Fighting Maroons officials, led by team manager Dan Palami, announced the partnership during a press launch recently. Palami said the UP Fighting Maroons are aiming for a Final Four stint on a team built around veterans Jet Manuel, Kyles Lao and Henry Asilum.

Others who graced the event were Paul Tiangco, BAVI assistant vice president for North Luzon operations and team liaison, and Jose Montes, brand supervisor. The three are alumni of the state-owned university, which made the partnership even more significant for both parties.

As part of Chooks-to-Go’s thrust of giving back to the community, supporting the UP Fighting Maroons’ basketball program is one way of uplifting and promoting the value of true sportsmanship in the collegiate tournament.

“Our success as a company is only meaningful if we are able to share it with other people. That is why we are excited with this partnership because it allows us to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of young athletes, one of our own, with the hopes of spreading the values we promote to others even further,” said Mascariñas.

With a strong partnership and an even better start to the upcoming games, expect an empowered squad of basketball players guided by the values of sportsmanship.
