6 hurt as van rolls off cliff

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Six persons were injured when their van fell into a ravine in Bauang, La Union yesterday morning.

Driver Michael Aquino told police he lost control of the wheel as he was negotiating a curve in Barangay Ballay.

But police said Aquino was speeding, causing the vehicle to fall into the ravine.

Aquino and his passengers, who were all related to him, suffered minor injuries.

Meanwhile, another van caught fire as it was traveling in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte on Saturday.

Probers said an electrical short-circuit caused the fire, which immediately spread all over the vehicle.

No one was hurt in the incident.
