Style Origin at Ayala Cebu

- Honey Jarque Loop - The Philippine Star

Style Origin, a signature event of Ayala Malls, the country’s premier lifestyle destination, highlights distinguished home grown products, renowned Filipino designers and illustrious international brands through various  activities that promote lifestyle, music, design and fashion. It has cultivated the shopper’s eye for elegance, redefined and elevated the complete retail experience and reaffirmed that style simply begins at the Ayala Malls.

The much-anticipated Mensweek Fashion show directed by Ariel Lozada  featured 37 of the country’s much sought-after designers such as  Rhett Eala, Tonichi Nocom, Jerome Ang, Joel Escobar and  Norman Noriega. They were joined by Cebu’s very own multi-talented stylists and fashion designers, Cary Santiago, Edwin Ao, Philip Rodriguez, Philipp Tampus and Yvonne Quisumbing.

Models walked the runway in predominant shades of black, gray and white with designs ranging from corporate to formal to androgynous indifferent cuts and silhouettes, making use of both classic and unconventional material- a testament that style is always evolving and encompassing.

Adding glitz to the occasion were some of today’s hottest celebrities in haute couture. Basketball superstar, former UST Growling Tigers and Rain or Shine shooting guard Jeric Teng  wore a Noel Crisostomo piece while surprise guest multimedia star and rockoustic heartthrob Sam Milby thrilled the audience in a Do. Se creation.

The following day the Highstreet Fashion show culminated with a burst of confetti, color and character at the Gallery of the Ayala Center Cebu. The show dubbed Southern Sophistication had models, celebrities, local personalities and fashion enthusiasts embracing the island’s modish lifestyle, both active and laidback as they walked down the canary yellow runway with classic but trendy and vibrant ensembles from 35 notable participating clothing and accessories brands for adults, teens and kids.

With pop beats and candy-colored lights setting the whimsical mood, top models shared the stage with local celebrities  Kryz Uy and Divine and Kym Maitland-Smith; fashion enthusiasts Jenny Ann Pimentel, Edel Hao and Loveth Dejarme; local personalities Juan Antonio Carcel, Izzara Ugarte and Marian Quitevis; fresh-faced teens Mariana Chiongbian, Danica Del Mar, Amanda and Miguel Climaco and budding pre-teens Casey Kate Alajid and Xadrien Chang.

Adorable crowd pleasers were Veia Lampert, Allison Huettel, Tino Martinez and Jack Booth. Chic mom and child tandems were fashionable Kaye Mercado with  son Carlos, TV news anchor Georgia Herrera Klepp and son Aidan, style maven Meg Osmeña Eteve with daughter Zion and corporate executive Selina Selma Romualdez with her daughter Saige and Xari Chang.

The show was hosted by Drew Arellano and Iya Villania who also walked the runway and entertained the crowd. Directed by Robby Carmona, this year’s Highstreet Fashion Show featured local and international brands such as  Artwork, Bratpack, British India, Folded and Hung, Gems and Designs,   Girbaud,  Janilyn, Karimadon, Keds, Lady Bag, Marks & Spencer,  Nautica, Nima, Rainbow, Res Toe Run, ROX, Rustan’s, Skechers, Sledgers, Swatch, The Travel Club and Yakpak.
