MANILA, Philippines — Realizing how digital transformation is directing the growth of businesses and organizations worldwide, noted IT distributor MSI-ECS has invited hundreds of IT decision makers, tech industry leaders, digital solution experts and technology evangelists across the Asia and the Pacific in the first-ever MSI-ECS CXO Innovation Summit at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa in Cebu.

Innovators leading the way at summit plenary

Opening the innovation summit is the plenary session where six industry stalwarts from the biggest tech innovators discussed key issues so that local CIOs (chief information officers) and chief technology officers (CTOs) can plan strategies that will help companies and organizations ride the next wave of digital transformation in an ever-changing global economy.

Cisco regional lead for Smart Cities Zdravka Paskaleva Newman talked about Cisco Kinetic, a digital technology platform that links Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and cameras to build a truly “smart” city. IBM Philippines, Inc. chief technologist and client technical adviser Lope Doromal, Jr. explained the dynamics behind block chain and how data can be maximized to create database where records are truly public, transparent and easily verifiable. Meanwhile, Trend Micro Regional Solutions architect Tarun Gupta shared his insights on False Horizons and Strategies for Enterprise Security.

Concluding the plenary discussions was Jay Tuseth, Dell EMC Modern Data Centre chief strategy officer for Asia Pacific and Japan, who enlightened attendees about Dell Digital Technology and how it harmonizes a company’s digital transformation.

Trailblazers and Technocrats at breakout sessions

The next day, industry experts shared thought-provoking insights during the breakout sessions — 28 simultaneous presentations spread across all four ballrooms of Shangri-La Mactan — that tackled everything from smart cities, cloud storage, artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, cyber security, threat detection and response, IoT, network connectivity and digital workspaces.

With present realities and future shifts in mind, these breakout sessions presented key points, discussed tech roadmaps and studied global best practices to guide Philippine-based companies and organizations as they embark on their own digital transformations. Because competitiveness can only be ensured through a speedy, secure and efficient digital shift, the talks highlighted viable technology solutions tailored towards different business areas.
