MANILA, Philippines — Tankers Ernie Gawilan and Angel Otom became the first two Filipinos to qualify to the Paris Paralympics slated Aug. 28 to Sept. 8.

Philippine Paralympic Committee president Mike Barredo bared the good news after Gawilan and Otom qualified via the Minimum Qualification Standard Slot Allocation Method.

The World Para Swimming gave Gawilan, 32, and Otom, 20, the Paris seats for being the highest ranked male and female players in the country.

It will be the second Paralympics stint for Gawilan, the many-time ASEAN and Asian Para Games gold medalist.
