Scribes to honor collegiate stars

MANILA, Philippines — Ateneo’s Thirdy Ravena and Ange Kouame with Rhenz Abando of Letran will be feted as the Collegiate Basketball Players of the Year in a historic three-in-one awards night of the Collegiate Press Corps on Monday at the Hummingbird Rooftop Bar in Quezon City.

Presented by San Miguel Corp. and backed by the Philippine Sports Commission), it’s the first ceremony for mediamen covering the UAAP and NCAA, making it a grandiose night by gathering the top collegiate performers in the past three years.

Ravena earned his distinction for the 2019-2020 athletic year after anchoring Ateneo’s three-peat highlighted by a 16-0 sweep of the UAAP Season 81 before taking flight to Japan as the first Filipino import in the B. League.

Kouame will be honored for 2021-2022 due to his excellence as the Season MVP in Season 84 while Abando, now a pro in the Korean Basketball League, reached new heights in 2021-2022 after steering Letran to a championship sweep of the NCAA.
