MANILA, Philippines — Reigning Sixth Man of the Year Jordan Clarkson is choosing to move on after a career performance last season with the Utah Jazz.

Opting not to dwell on what has already past, the Fil-Am guard is instead looking forward to a clean slate — something that presents him with more opportunities to grow his game.

"That season's over with, it's like done, even with the playoffs, I'm not thinking about that [anymore]," Clarkson said during the Utah Jazz' media day earlier this week.

"[This season], it's a whole new experience, it's a whole new everything for me... I'm excited for the new experience," he added.

Coming off of the bench for Quin Snyder, the 29-year-old played some of the best basketball of his NBA career.

Posting norms of 18.4 points, four rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 68 games, Clarkson played a crucial role in the Jazz's journey to the Western Conference semifinals.

Now, with all records back to zero, the Tampa, Florida native expects to play his game and continue doing things for the team for them to reach the next level.

"For me, I'm just coming in and trying to do what I do, you know, help our team, playmake, impact the game when I'm in there in those minutes," said Clarkson.

And while the Larry O'Brien trophy is the ultimate goal for Clarkson and the rest of the Jazz organization, the Fil-Am guard is wary of looking ahead too much.

Rather, he plans to take it one game at a time.

"Whatever happens, happens. We're trying to win, it's day to day for me," said Clarkson.

Clarkson and the Jazz begin preseason action on Monday, October 4 (Tuesday, October 5, Manila time) when they face the San Antonio Spurs.

Regular season hostilities begin on October 20 (October 21 in Manila) when Utah goes up against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
