MANILA, Philippines — Eduard “Landslide” Folayang can’t find a better place to jumpstart his bid to regain the ONE lightweight world title than Singapore.

The Lion City has been good to the Filipino and his colorful MMA career.

So when Folayang takes on Antonio “The Spartan” Caruso in the featured undercard at ONE: Inside the Matrix on Oct. 30 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, he’s confident that he can relieve the old glory days in the country.

“It’s always Singapore,” Folayang, 35, told the online version of the PSA Forum last Tuesday.

“This fight is very important for me, my team, our country. I want to win the title for the third time and it always starts in Singapore. I have good experiences there,” he said.

A quick look at the former ONE lightweight champion’s resume and you’d understand his love for the small island nation.

It was in Singapore where he started to make a name for himself in the international circuit, going unbeaten in the brutal sport en route to headlining the first ONE event in 2011.

In the same venue in 2016, he pulled off the biggest win of his career, a third-round TKO win over highly-touted Japanese Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki to win the world title for the first time.

Folayang is 6-1 (won-lost) in Singapore.

“Eduard will become the lightweight champion again. I believe in him,” said his coach, Mark Sangiao.

It will all happen in Singapore.
