MANILA, Philippines — Hidilyn Diaz kept her 2020 Tokyo Olympics bid on track after clinching the bronze medal in the women's 55kg category of the 2019 IWF World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand on Friday.

China's Liao Qiuyun claimed the top prize after lifting a total of 227kg, followed by compatriot Zhang Wangquiong, who lifted 222kg.

Diaz was able to edge out fourth-placer Zulfiya Chinshanlo by a kilogram.

The Filipina lifted a total of 214kg, besting the Kazakh's 213kg.

Apart from her Olympic bid, Diaz is also on the running to cop a gold medal in front of the home crowd during the 30th Southeast Asian Games in Manila.
