PBA legend son bright draft bet

MANILA, Philippines — With his D-League stint over, versatile guard Aaron Black now sets his sights on preparation for the PBA Rookie Draft where he hopes to be “up there” with the top prospects.

Aaron, son of legendary PBA import Norman Black, saw the end of his D-League Foundation Cup campaign with AMA Online Education in their 78-100 quarterfinal loss to Marinerong Pilipino the other day.

He sparkled in a losing cause with 22 points, 14 rebounds and five assists, capping a campaign spiked by a record-tying three triple-double games.

“I think I was able to showcase myself pretty well this conference so I think as long as I continue to play like that, to continue to improve, I think I’ll be able to be at least up there with the top guys,” said Black with a mouth-watering stats line of 25.2 points, 12.3 rebounds and 10.3 assists with AMA.

Though the former Ateneo stalwart would have wanted to come away with wins more than good stats, he is just grateful to AMA coach Mark Herrera for giving him the opportunity to play his game and shine on his own, hoping this fans his draft stock.

“Well, of course my number one priority was to win. The triple-doubles came with the wins so I’m thankful for that. I’m thankful to coach Mark for giving me the opportunity. That was the big thing for me. I’m very thankful for this league for helping me showcase what I can do,” he said.
