Que joint 6th, earns P2.3 million

Dante Navarro - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Angelo Que continued to turn in big finishes on the Japan PGA Tour, closing out with an eagle-spiked 68 to rally from joint 16th to a share of sixth in the Mynavi ABC Championship won by Yuta Kinoshita at the ABC Golf Club in Hyogo yesterday.

Que, enjoying top form after scoring a breakthrough win at the TOP Cup Tokai Classic last month, atoned for a fumbling 73 in the third round with three birdies in the first seven holes then rebounded from a missed green bogey on the par-3 No. 8 with an eagle on the par-5 15th to finish with a pair of 34s.

That netted the 39-year-old long-hitting Filipino a spot at No. 6 at four-under 280 worth P2.3 million, pushing him to No. 15 in the Japan PGA money ranking with five more tournaments left in the season.

Compatriot Juvic Pagunsan, meanwhile, aced No. 16 but stumbled with three bogeys and two double bogeys for a 78 that dropped him from joint 13th to a share of 43rd at 289. He received P284,000.

Kinoshita birdied two of the last four to fire a 69 then nipped Masahiro Kawamura, who charged back with a 67, in the playoff to clinch the crown. Both finished with 273s.
