Tabuena joint 8th in Singapore Open

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Miguel Tabuena missed posting a top five finish in the Singapore Open despite a late rally as he carded a 70 and wound up tied for eighth in the $1 million event ruled by reigning Masters champion Sergio Garcia of Spain.

Tabuena stumbled with three bogeys but fought back with a birdie to close out his backside stint at Sentosa Golf Club’s Serapong course. He then birdied three of the first four holes at the front but ran out of holes in his comeback bid.

He ended up with a six-under 278 for joint eighth with Malaysian Gavin Green (71), Berry Henson of the US (65) and Aussie Lucas Herbert (71) and took home $20,612 (P1 million).

Tabuena also missed a crack at an automatic berth in the British Open, edged for the last slot by Herbert, who had a higher world ranking at 274 than Tabuena (307).
