The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Defending boys’ champion National University and University of Santo Tomas dispute the remaining Finals slot today in the UAAP Season 80 high school volleyball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

The Bullpups outlasted second-ranked Tiger Cubs, 25-16, 25-21, 17-25, 26-28, 15-11, last Sunday to force a do-or-die.

The Final Four decider is set at 8 a.m.

Far Eastern University-Diliman reached its first-ever boys Finals after beating fourth-ranked University of the East, 22-25, 25-23, 28-30, 25-17, 15-12, also last Sunday.

The Tiger Cubs repelled the Bullpups, 25-23, 12-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-10, in last Friday’s playoff to clinch the twice-to-beat bonus.

Meanwhile, the much-awaited girls’ best-of-three championship series between NU and UST will be played Monday, also at the San Juan arena.

The Bullpups and the Junior Tigresses topped first-time semifinalist Baby Tamaraws and De La Salle-Zobel, respectively, in the Final Four to arrange a title clash for the fifth straight year.
